Britney Spears’ conservatorship was finally terminated by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, Brenda Penny on Friday. Spears had been subjected to a conservatorship for more than 13 years.
Spears’ attorney, former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart reported to ABC News’ Kaylee Hartung, “She will wake up tomorrow as a free woman.” Both Rosengart and Spears’ father along with former Conservator, Jamie Spears, had filed to end the conservatorship prior to Friday’s hearing.

Spears did not publicly address the conservatorship until June 2021 when she pleaded and requested with Penny in court to terminate it. She called it “abusive” and said it is “doing me way more harm than good.” She also added that the conservatorship left her “traumatized”. She said, “I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane. And I’m depressed,” she said. Spears pointed at her father saying he should be put behind bars for such inhuman treatment. “He should be in jail,” she said for the way he has treated her. The lawyer adds that he is sorry to see Britney in so much pain but also claims that her father loves her very much and that she is very dear to him.
Reasons As To Why Jamie Spears Exited The Conservatorship
Just after Rosengart filed court documents and appealed for his removal and resignation, Jamie Spears indicated that in August he would step down as a conservator. In court filings collected by ABC news, he believes it “highly debatable whether a change in a conservator at such a time would be in Britney Spears’ best interests” and was all set to remove himself from the arrangement.
