  1. Pieces Of A Woman  (Netflix)

This movie will make you cry. Pieces of a Woman is a Canadian-American drama starring Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, Molly Parker, Sarah Snook, Ellen Burstyn among others playing the role of Martha’s (Vanessa Kirby) family. This movie involves Martha’s traumatic childbirth, loss of baby, a court case, and much more. Martha’s home birth leads to a rupture in her marriage and her life falls apart. The movie revolves around very sensitive issues and will leave the viewer melancholic.

It is directed by Kornel Mundruczo and the screenplay is done by Kata Weber. The running time of this movie is 128 minutes. It was released on January 7th of 2020. 

  1. 200 Halla Ho  (ZEE5)

A real incident, where 200 Dalit women lynched a rapist, gangster, robber, and killer in the courtroom before his trial. This incident took place in Nagpur, Maharashtra in the year 2004. Inspired by this event, the movie narrates the story very powerfully. The film includes Rinku Rajguru, Barun Sobti, Sahil Khattar, Amol Palekar, Indraneil Sengupta, Upendra Limaye, and Saloni Batra as main characters. 

The movie is very well written and directed by Sarthak Dasgupta which powerfully deals with the moral dichotomy. It was released on the 20th of August 2021. 

  1. The Call  (Netflix)

This is a South Korean movie based on 2011 British and Puerto Rican Film The Caller. This is a time travel thriller movie. The story revolves around the protagonists of twenty-eight years old, Seo-Yeon and Young-Sook. These two women from different times connect through a phone call that interchanges their life. Actors Park Shin-Hye and Jeon Jong-seo play the roles of Seo-Yeon and Young-Sook respectively. The twist taken by the plotline in the ending is worth watching. 

The movie is written and directed by Lee Chung-Hyun with a screen time of 112 minutes. 

  1. Oxygen (Netflix) 

It is a science fiction psychological survival horror movie. Elizabeth Hasen, played by  Malanie Laurent, wakes up and finds that she is trapped inside a coffin-like airtight cryogenic unit where the oxygen level is rapidly falling. Running out of oxygen, she suffers from loss of memory and couldn’t remember why and how she went there. This science fiction is satisfying to watch. Apart from Malanie Laurent it also features Mathieu Amalric and Malik Zidi as main characters. 

Written by Christie LeBlanc and directed by Alexander Aja, this movie is of 101 minutes and is produced by Alexandre Aja, Gregory Levasseur, Vincent Maraval, Brahim Chios, and Noemie Divide. 

  1. Kaali Peeli Tales (Amazon miniTV) 

It is an anthology of six bitter-sweet short stories capturing the essence of love, relationship, and complexities of life in Mumbai. All the stories revolve around the perspective of modern relationships and the uncertainties of the metropolitan and digital era. The stories included in this anthology cover complex themes like infidelity, open marriage, phobia, divorce, homosexuality, commitment, and an abundance of emotions. The common thread between every story is the Taxi of Mumbai. 

The anthology will feature Vinay Pathak, Gauhar Khan, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo, Soni Razdan, Hussain Dalal, Sharib Hashmi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Tanmay Dhanania, and Sadiya Siddiqui. Every story is 25-30 minutes. It is directed and written by Adeeb Rais. 

  1. Mukhosh  (In Cinemas)

It is a Bengali thriller drama film. The plot of Mukhosh is based on the city of joy, Kolkata. The city witnesses a series of gruesome killings that followed a particular pattern- the killer first kidnaps the victim, slowly kills them, and takes their heart out, all the latest victims belonged to the Kolkata Police Force. The movie will offer extended thrills and will force you to watch it in one sitting. 

The film starring Payel Sarkar, Shantilal Mukherjee, Amrita Halder, Prantik Banerjee, Suchismita Thakur, and Rajatava Dutta is directed by Argha Deep Chatterjee and produced by Suman Sengupta. The screenplay is done by Aveek Ray and Sujoyneel Bandopadhyay. It was released on the 19th of August 2021. 

  1. #Home (Amazon Prime) 

It is a comedy-drama movie, starring Vijay Babu, Sreenath Bhasi, and Srikant Murali in the lead roles. Oliver Twist’s (Indrans) family consists of his wife Kuttiyamma (Manju Pillai), his aging father (Kainakary Thankaraj), and two sons, Antony (Sreenath Bhasi) and Charles (Naslen K Gafoor). The plot reveals that Oliver Twist is a technologically challenged dad who is trying to reconnect with his young sons. The movie reflects many emotions besides comedy and drama. 

The movie is directed and written by Rojin Thomas and produced by Vijay Babu. It was released on the 19th of August 2021. 

  1. The Half Of It (Netflix) 

It is a comedy-drama film written and directed by Alice Wu. The story is a loose retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac with a queer twist. In the original movie, Ellie Chu writes love letters on behalf of Paul Munsky to his crush Aster Flores. This movie is uncommonly smart and tender, having a coming-of-age comedy. It tells the journey of the self-acceptance of a young lesbian immigrant. The movie starring Leah Lewis, Daniel Diemer, Alexxis Lemire, Erique Murciano, Wolfgang Novogratz, Catherine Curtin, Becky Ann Baker, and Collin Chou as lead characters move in a quite unexpected way. 

It was released on the 1st of May, 2020, and runs with a time frame of just 104 minutes. It is produced by Anthony Bregman and M. Blair Bregman in addition to Alice Wu.
