This temple tops the list of the best historical places to visit in Udaipur. This temple was built under the reign of Maharana Jagat Singh. Made from marble and granite, this palace has 11 small palaces and many beautiful sculptures to see. The exterior, as well as the interior of the palace, are both beautiful and gorgeous. Each of the carving, marble works, painting mirror works are all a sight to see. This palace is around 598 m above sea level thus offering its visitors a beautiful and stunning view of Lake Pichola.

Built by Amarchand Badwa – the Prime Minister of the kingdom of Mewar between 1751 and 1778 is a mansion that one would only see in movies. Holding around 138 rooms, where each of the rooms is filled with beautiful glassworks and gorgeous mirror works, and beautiful mural paintings. The courtyards, archways, fountains, balconies, and the ‘jharokhas’ here are a site that can never be described in words. The performances held in this place are also a beautiful sight to watch.
It was first under Amarchand Badwa and was then taken over by the royal family of Mewar. It was under their position and then was shifted to the Rajasthan State Government. There was a slight addition made by the Mewar dynasty after they took over Bagore ki Haveli.

Also known as Garden of the Maidens, this luscious garden was built by Maharana Sangram Singh. This place is well known for its soulful atmosphere and beautiful architecture. According to the legends, it’s stated that the king designed this place for his wife and her maidens who accompanied her in the marriage.
This garden is also a collection of many royal and antique stuff. The best time for visiting this place would be the evenings where you would be able to hear the sounds of chirping birds, the sound of waters flowing through the canals, and the beautiful sunset.

This town is known for housing the cenotaphs of all the great rulers and queens of the Mewar kingdom. There are almost 372 monuments that are built over 400 years. The last one that is installed in this place is the Maharana, Bhagwat Singh. All these cenotaphs have very sharp and complex carving into it with detailed motifs and striking features that resemble the temples they once built.
After the trip to Ahar Cenotaphs, you can go to the Government Museum where you would be able to see ancient sculptures and old objects. Most historians state that these all date from over 3300 years ago.

Located on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, Moti Magri is popular for featuring the spectacular bronze statue of Maharana Pratap and his valorous ride, Chetak. This statue was built by Maharana Bhagwat Singh in 1948 and is a homage to the courage shown by Maharana Pratap and Chetak in the battle of Haldighati.
As you stroll across the lush green hill of Moti Magri clicking pictures of the memorial, head to the Japanese Rock Garden situated nearby and spend some time there. If you are there at the time of sunset, then the view of Fateh Sagar Lake at that juncture should offer you a serene experience.

This palace is one of the important tourist spots in the city of Udaipur. First, it was used as an astronomical center but later, it changed into a hunting lodge and monsoon palace. This clock has a long history for itself. Built about 130 years ago, Rai Pannalal Mehta – the then Pradhan of the Mewar state pushed Maharana Fateh Singh to get a clock as a symbol of peace in the place where a fight between the Muslim community of Bohras and the Hindu community of Mahajans happened. To resolve this fight and as fine for this Rai Pannalal Mehta ordered both the communities to pay INR 5000. Hence with that amount, this clock was installed. This used to be the most popular historical attraction of Udaipur as it was a clock(50ft) bought from London.

The Eklingji Temple is known to all visitors of Udaipur. The beautiful 50 feet marble idol of Lord Shiva or Eklingji is famous around various parts of the world. The sculptures of Nandhi that are made of brass and black stone as well as silver are also a beautiful sight to see. During the Mughal rule, this temple was under attack but later on was repaired and brought back to its previous glory. The temple was made by Bappa Rawai who was an ardent worshipper.

The mountain pass of Haldighati is the site where king Maharana Pratap and his horse, Chetak lost their lives while fighting alongside the king of Amber Raja Man Singh against Rana Pratap Singh of Mewar; the former being the Emperor Akbar’s general. This pass which connects the districts of Rajsamand and Pali is named the same for its soil which resembles the color of turmeric.
