She is the longest-serving British Prime Minister in the twentieth century. She implemented policies that are widely known as Thatcherism. 

The title “Iron Lady” is a nickname given to her after her uncompromising politics and leadership style. Rishi Sunak in one of his press conferences spoke about restoring the broken trust that people had in the government. He also stated that he would be honest to the people of Britain by not “promising things that can’t be delivered”. He further said that he has what it takes to beat Kirstens’ labor party in the election that will happen in the year 2024. Rishi Sunak continues to launch his leadership by pledging to avoid “comforting fairy tales”. He firmly focuses on being honest to the citizens regarding all the challenges the country might face and making sure he does not give any false hope.

• Liz Truss

Elizabeth Truss, currently serving as Britain’s Foreign Secretary, might be the third woman Prime Minister of the United Kingdom if she wins the heart of the Conservative Party. Elizabeth Truss’s journey in politics began in the year 2010 when she became the MP after four failed attempts. Now, Elizabeth Truss promises to bring down the energy bills, cut down the tax rates, and pledge to raise 3% in defense spending. Liz Truss has promised to “hit the ground running from day one” if she becomes the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Liz Truss won admirers among ardent Brexiteers by challenging the EU over the Brexit deal struck by Johnson’s government, introducing a bill overriding the bulk of its provisions on Northern Ireland. Though there were several hurdles in her journey in politics, like involving an irrelevant statement about “cheese” in her broadcast and many discouraging situations, she still manages to overcome all of them and run for the post of Prime Minister.

Liz Truss wrote, “Under my leadership, I would start cutting taxes from day one to take immediate action to help people deal with the cost of living”. Clearly, Liz Truss focuses on reducing the tax whereas, Rishi Sunak says that taxes can not be cut down until the fall of 2023.

Who Will It Come Down To? Rishi Sunak Or Liz Truss

Sunak has the parliamentary winning vote of 137 whereas Liz Truss has only 113 votes. However, according to the survey that was conducted for 730 Conservative Party members, 62% of the votes are in favor of Liz Truss, and 38% might vote for Rishi Sunak. Several members of the Conservative Party have called Rishi Sunak a traitor, as they believed it was Rishi Sunak who made Boris Johnson resign the post of Prime Minister. So, for now, the odds of winning favors Liz Truss. 

There might be a change in the future. Hopefully, the most suitable person will win the post of Prime Minister. In the run for the finish line, Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss are on their final lap. The 200,000 Conservative Party members will vote to choose the winner, who will go on to be the next successor of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister.
