Social media is throbbing with the pictures of the actor, Rajkumar Rao, and his newlywed wife, Patralekha Paul tied the knot on 15 November, breaking the hearts of many fangirls! The couple looked absolutely gorgeous in their stunning Sabyasachi outfits. 

The Cute First Meet

Apparently, Rajkumar had seen Patralekha doing an ad shoot and was head over heels for her. He revealed that he knew she was the one he wanted to marry and spend the rest of his life with. He was impatient and couldn’t wait to meet his dream girl! But Patralekha, on the other hand, saw Rajkumar for the first time in his movie Love, Sex Aur Dhoka and actually thought that the weird character he played in the movie was who he was in real life. The movie tarnished her perception of him. Almost a month later, these two met for the first time and felt like it was meant to be.

Their Work Lives

Rajkumar Rao had made his Bollywood debut in Love, Sex Aur Dhoka which received critical reviews, followed by some famous films like Kai Po Che, Omerta, Citylights, Shahid, Stree, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, Chhalang. He was recently seen in Hum Do Humaare Do alongside Kriti Sanon. Rajkumar has struggled a lot in this industry to be where he is right now. He has a huge fan following who adore him for his acting skills, and not to mention his rugged, handsome face!

Patralekha Paul made her Bollywood debut in Citylights alongside her then-boyfriend, Rajkumar. She then proceeded to star in various films and web series that were appreciated by the audience. She won the Star Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer (Female) for her movie, Citylights.

Their Budding Romance

Their love for each other grew as they started working together. Patralekha recognized a genuine man filled with hard work and education in Rajkumar and had no other option but to fall for him head over heels. They supported each other in their hard times and used to go to each other’s auditions just for support. Amidst their hectic work life, they still managed to find time out for themselves. There were days in their phases of struggle when they just stayed at home watching movies and planning their next step. They began officially dating in December 2010.

There is one incident that Patralekha holds close to her heart. At a time when Rajkumar was not as rich and famous as he is now, he had still bought an expensive bag for his sweetheart that she had recalled being her favorite. Unfortunately, that same bag got stolen in London and she called Rajkumar in a flood of tears, only to go back home to see the exact bag waiting for her! It was just these little things in their relationship that kept them together for over a decade.

Patralekha and Rajkummar Rao met by chance in 2014, when they were both casts in Hansal Mehta’s movie Citylights. When the two began collaborating alongside each other, they quickly realized that they knew each other on a profound level and were equally pleased by the other’s performance. Patralekha stated in an article that their shared passion for movies drew them closer together. They never embarked on a date, but they began to enjoy spending time together. They used to take long car rides together and discuss movies for hours.

When Rajkummar Rao first saw Patralekha’s mom, she warned him that you are most likely the last person she brings home. Patralekha feels she is extremely fortunate to have a spouse like Rajkumar Rao. But the unique thing about Rajkumar Rao is that he often emphasizes how fortunate he is to have Patralekha. Patralekhaa continued by mentioning how Rajkummar Rao loves her fair and spoke up about her thoughts on what genuine love entails. The actress emphasized that romance is not about costly outings or gifts but more often about how one can cling to each other.

The Big Day!

Eleven years of dating resulted in a big, fat Indian wedding in The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort in Chandigarh on 15 November 2021. The bride and groom looked every bit as happy as their families. The whole function was filled with joy and laughter and love as they tied the knot. Their glamorous Sabyasachi outfits stole the hearts of many individuals. They both posted pictures of the wedding on social media that received loads of love and heartfelt congratulations from almost everyone. 

Patralekhaa shined in a traditional red tulle embellished Buti saree, both ensembles designed by Sabyasachi. Her beaded cover (dupatta) was imprinted with a Bengali verse written by the designer that added to the star’s gorgeous costume. “My body is bursting with devotion – I dedicate myself to you,” it added. Patralekhaa accessorized her ensemble with handmade Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery (SHJ) in 22k gold with rough diamonds, beads, and gemstones, whilst Rao opted for handmade SHJ in strings of farmed Japanese jewels.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Taapsee Pannu, Sanya Malhotra, Dia Mirza, and director Vikramaditya Motwane are amongst the celebrities who complimented the newlyweds. Later that day, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar visited the marriage ceremony of the National Film Award-winning actor in Chandigarh. Rao looked smart in a fitted suit, while Patralekhaa seemed stunning in a gold-white saree with a hefty choker necklace and a Pashmina blanket. 

At a time when people avoid long-term commitments, Bollywood actresses Rajkummar Rao and Patralekha Paul show that if passion is sincere, one can go to any length. Nevertheless, it was not even easy for them right away since Patralekha had her own ideas about him. As a result, to court her, her partner had to prove her wrong. And they have enjoyed 11 long years together as a result, with many more months and years to come.
